This spring, Delta Kappa Epsilon is hosting the Fourth Annual Miss Case Pageant at Case Western Reserve University in order to raise money and awareness for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The event will be held on Friday, March 27th at 7:00pm in the Schmitt Auditorium of the Millis Building.Â
Founded by parents of children with juvenile diabetes, JDRF has always focused on a single goal-accelerating research progress to cure diabetes and its complications. This unwavering dedication has led JDRF to spend more money for diabetes research than any other charitable organization-more than $1.3 billion since their founding in 1970, including over $156 million in fiscal year 2008 alone. More than 85 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education. In fiscal year 2008, JDRF funded 500 centers, grants, and fellowships in 19 countries. In addition, their advocacy has spurred government, especially the National Institutes of Health, to increase its investment in type 1 diabetes research to unprecedented levels. To learn more about JDRF, visit their website at http://www.jdrf.org/.
All proceeds from the Miss Case Pageant will go directly to JDRF. In order to sponsor a contestant this year, we ask for a $35 donation. The format of the event follows that of a traditional beauty pageant and appears on the next page. We ask that all entries be returned to Delta Kappa Epsilon by March 20th. Bulk tickets will be available starting March 16th, and general tickets will go on sale throughout campus on March 23rd. Tickets will also be available at the door.Â
If you have any questions concerning the event, are interested in sponsoring a contestant, or are interested in purchasing bulk tickets, please feel free to contact DKE at dkephilanthropy.cwru@gmail.com, or call me at (610) 217-3452 or Garrett Singer at (973) 460-4063. Thank you for support in helping make our event a success.Â
