A chapter’s strength are the brothers
and a brother’s strength is the chapter.
A Deke’s mission is to improve his character through his own initiative and the strength of the DKE brotherhood. A Deke knows that our brotherhood is a source of love, strength, and power. He strives for excellence in everything he does individually and with the fraternity. A Deke is his brother’s keeper and holds his brother accountable for his actions, while respecting his brother’s individuality.
In practice, the Dekes at Beta Chi develop character and brotherhood in the following ways:
- We represent and preserve Delta Kappa Epsilon at CWRU.
- We organize regular gatherings of brothers.
- We encourage creative social interaction.
- We serve our larger community because we recognize our good fortune.
- We provide forums for intellectual and cultural exchange in order to act with a deeper understanding of ourselves and our world.
- We seek challenging activities to promote our growth as scholars, citizens and gentlemen
Being a brother of the Beta Chi chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon, however, is more then just following a list of ideals. A brother of the Beta Chi chapter is about action. We consistently give to the community going beyond our required time of community service. We sponsor lectures on many
interesting and important topics for the students of CWRU.
We strive for academic excellence–each year our new pledge classes perform better then the previous years. But let us not forget that we have fun through our many social events. We work hard every day, so we have fun in the off time. Everything we do builds upon our ideals–A DEKE is a gentleman, scholar, and a jolly good fellow.
